A Little Breed History
When the Coton first came to the USA it was not initially a part of the AKC Stud Book. We were known as a Rare Breed at that time. It took several years for the breed to be recognized by the AKC. While we were working to achieve that status, in lieu of an official registration certificate, the AKC issued certificates that showed our dogs as Foundation Stock, only later issuing Official AKC Registration Certificates upon the breed receiving full AKC recognition in 2014. Below is a copy of Perry’s original Foundation Stock Certificate.
