Welcome to Beach Cotons of Pittsburgh, PA
Home of the incredible Coton de Tulear!
Here at Beach Cotons, we aspire to produce dogs focusing on health, temperament and beauty. Our dogs are health tested prior to breeding, and we breed to the AKC and FCI standards of perfection.
Our dogs are beloved companions first. We have very few litters, and breed selectively, not for convenience, preferring a Coton with a European lineage, that has been closely bred to the FCI standard.
We are located in southwestern Pennsylvania in a suburb of Pittsburgh, conveniently near the Pittsburgh International Airport.
Pictured on the right is the cover of the French breed club’s quarterly magazine. The dog on the cover is my beloved, I Am Perry Ellis du Castle de la Roche Aux Fees. Perry was my first Coton, my heart dog.
For those who are first learning about the Coton, this is a companion dog who loves to hang out and be a part of the family. Cotons do not do well in situations where they will be left alone for long periods of time.
While small, the Coton is not fragile, and loves to play, both indoors and outdoors, and is also content to chill on the sofa next to you as you watch TV or read a book. Cotons are an excellent match for people who are both active and inactive. When playing the Coton has the energy and drive of a much bigger dog, running outdoors with such vigor they often appear to be flying thru the air.

Puppies Expected Early March 2025!
Cotons are hypoallergenic, having hair and not fur.
As a rule, they will not shed all over you or the house. They have long profuse hair that is cotton like in texture that will quickly mat if not properly cared for.
A Coton in full coat requires daily combing and frequent baths to maintain their coat. Due to their extensive grooming needs, a Coton not being shown, or living in a companion home, is best kept in a puppy cut.
Pictured on the left is an adult Coton in a puppy cut. Isn’t he adorable! To maintain a puppy cut, plan on visiting a professional dog groomer every couple of months, throughout the life of your dog. In the alternative, you can buy professional grooming products and learn to groom your dog yourself, and this is an activity that can be bonding between you and your dog.
We hope you enjoy surfing our website, as you learn more about this delightful breed. If you have questions, please, feel free to reach out to me. I love talking about the Coton!
